MetaNature: Roots to Revival
Can we hear those whose voices are fading into silence amid ecological crisis and human aggression? NeoKin reimagines a fragmented ecosystem within a cut tree, once a thriving habitat, now disrupted (with human activity).
Once a living tree, a stump is (still) spreading its roots – hoping for a revival, offering a 'fragmented' Home (as a digital GIF) to both a living moss and non-living fossils of human activity. It is an evocation of lost habitats and disrupted ecosystems, symbolizing life’s persistence despite destruction. The tree, interwoven with e-waste, fossils, and growing plants, represents a speculative ecosystem where nature and culture become inseparable.
NeoKin challenges anthropocentric perspectives and redefines Home as a Shared, Evolving Space where Technology, Nature (including humans), and Land intersect in an ongoing negotiation of survival, adaptation, and resilience. Hopefully, we can learn how to regenerate and live within hybrid yet still self-regulating ecosystems.

MetaLife: Return to Oneness | Upside-down Tree
Imagine a world where ‘trees’ are growing upside down, as metal beings from the roots of the past where Nature existed. Immerse into a speculative future where humanity, technology, and nature converge in a dynamic symbiosis. This multimedia installation unfolds as a visual & auditory exploration of the intricate connections between living organisms, discarded technology, & the ever-changing landscape of our planet.
Combining new media & bio art, installation from fallen tree parts, discarded metal & tech, generative & environmental sound and interactivity, MetaLife offers to rethink our relationship with the natural world and envision an ecosystem where coexistence & collaboration thrive. It is a speculative metaphor on the potential trajectories of our collective evolution, fostering empathy towards the future.
Listen to the interactive interspecies communication of the sonified slime exploring the terrain of discarded tech fossils followed by narratives of the ecosystems, redifined by humans...

MetaNature: Space In-Between
Observe an evolving symbiosis of living organisms and electronics. Listen to the multilayered narratives of those unheard: the slime, the plants, the discarded. Engage in the interspecies communication between living and non-living through touch.
Growing slime on microchips. Exploring interspecies communication and bioacoustics through capacitive sensing. These films showcases a dynamic symbiosis between living organisms and electronics, inviting observers to explore the unheard narratives of the slime mould and plants with discarded electronics.
Interactive, living and growing installation explores the alternative future of NatureCultures through the critical post-humanism lens. From touching the growing micro-greens in dismantled e-waste to a screaming sound of a living being, this project encourages a deeper understanding of connections 'in-between' .

MetaHome: Hopeful Nostalgia
Wordless memories that journey through the intricacies of migration, cultural displacement, and the enduring quest for belonging. Within this immersive fusion of physical and digital realms lies an exploration of my narrative – a tapestry woven from Ukrainian heritage, refugee experiences… and a feeling of hope that we all are equal citizens of the globe.
This work combines media art, installation, prints on envelopes and embroidery of the Ursa Major & Minor star constellations on the discarded screens; guiding us home, just like the North star... Delving deep into the layers of symbols and traditions, ‘MetaHome’ invites reflection on the fluidity of identity and Belonging. Through this odyssey of artistry, one embarks on a transformative exploration of what it means to call a place ‘home’ and how the essence of identity can shift and morph across time and space.

Metascapes (not Landscapes)
What is the value of the untold stories and fragmented identities within the context of a globalised world? By framing the unframed and arranging found objects, this installation weaves together visual narratives that reflect themes of displacement, longing, and the multifaceted nature of being human.
Responding to the query "WHERE YOU FROM?" it challenges conventional narratives, delving into the complexities of personal and collective belonging. It redefines the boundaries of identity and home through a transformative exploration of discarded, preserved, and relived landscapes.
Through (im)prints of cultural influences and geopolitical events, this piece prompts viewers to ponder the universal question: "Where is my home?" This evocative journey invites introspection, blurring the lines between sadness and resilience, and ultimately celebrates the human spirit's capacity for adaptation and renewal.

Interdependence-3
What does it take to grow a real tree? Why does humanity keep ‘growing’ endlessly the cable trees, with the wires spreading into every part of our lives? Everything in the universe is interconnected, woven in a complex web of relationships that transcend the boundaries between living and non-living
This piece reflects today's rapid pace of technological development and consumption. It is inspired by urban life where trees are replaced by electric poles, highlighting the need to strike a balance between technological progress and environmental conservation. It challenges the idea of human exceptionalism and urges to ‘grow’ a more sustainable and just world for all; rooted in the interconnectedness of all beings, woven in a complex web of relationships that transcends the boundaries between living and non-living.
This installation and the recorded soundscapes result from field and research-based practice work with found and collected e-waste. It includes a light sensor developed in the Physical computing lab that impacts the sound modulation through Arduino & Max 8 Integration depending on the phase of the day and the amount of light in the environment.

Metascapes: Connecting through differences
In our hybridized world, as we grapple with the challenges of climate change, geopolitical shifts, and social instability, the vulnerability of human life and all life on Earth transforms into an ethical category. This raises profound questions about the connections between humans and the broader nonhuman community, framed within concepts like 'nature,' 'ecology,' 'community,' or 'landscape.'
This work explores the separation between human and nonhuman realms, and the reintegration of discarded nonhuman elements into what the author terms 'Metascapes' of the Natureculture. It embodies the interconnectedness of all entities and envisions harmonious coexistence within the complex web of Naturecultures.
'Metascape' serves as a catalyst for reimagining the relationship between humans, nonhuman entities, and the environment, fostering a deeper appreciation for the interconnectedness of all life forms within the Anthropocene.

Innocent: like a dog or an alien
Delving deep into the profound concepts of the impermanence of all things and beings, echoing a sense of liberation within... This work portrays an evolving realm where the ephemeral nature of living is celebrated rather than mourned. A constantly shifting landscape where beauty and chaos exist side by side, intertwined and inseparable. This project is the starting point of research into the relationships with the discarded unseen, featuring found objects, digital sensing and interactivity within a constantly transforming installation, that never stays the same, just like any landscape.
This piece is an interactive creature made from discarded bandsaw blades, found and upcycled wood with an integrated motor and movement detection technology. Sensing anyone approaching, it produces sharp metal sounds like an outer-space drum machine. Surrounded by the collected e-waste in its first version this piece had several transformations with a flipped remake. Further versions of the ‘Innocent’ installation showcased the evolution of relationships with the discarded, as between an author and subject/object.
The central figure in this work is a creature both innocent and otherworldly. Though formed from blades, they are rendered harmless; dulled by time, they no longer cut. Yet, as one approaches, a sharp metallic sound is triggered, produced by a motorized rod that strikes each blade in a rhythmic, circular motion. These percussive sounds are reminiscent of an outer-space drum machine, unfamiliar yet deeply human. This sound becomes a metaphor, reflecting the circular, spiral movement of human history, mirroring my nation's ongoing struggle for independence. The blades, though innocent, emit a cry, a song of resistance and resilience whenever touched by an external force.
